The capital of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation) is hosting the next summit of the BRICS member countries, attended by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Participating in the forum for the first time, the head of the Turkmen state, in his speech, thanking Russian President Vladimir Putin for his hospitality and warm welcome, stressed that he sees, first of all, a respectful attitude towards Turkmenistan in the invitation to the summit.
As you know, Turkmenistan, participating in the efforts of the international community, actively uses the opportunities of its neutral status to promote the peacekeeping mission, ensure global and regional security.
As the President of Turkmenistan emphasized in his speech at the forum: "An important component of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is the application of the model of neutrality, tools of preventive diplomacy to prevent conflict situations and eliminate the causes that give rise to them. We are convinced that in the current conditions, the basic principles of neutrality are objectively in demand, and with the support of the international community they can bring real benefits in ensuring global security."
In this context, the special importance and effectiveness of the activities of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, whose headquarters are located in Ashgabat, was also noted.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also announced that Turkmenistan had previously proposed a number of measures aimed at normalizing and improving the international situation and moving to constructive parameters of interaction. In this regard, the country has made a number of serious proposals to the UN, including an initiative to give neutral countries the status of priority partners of the UN in its peacekeeping efforts.
