The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has announced ambitious plans for 2024, including the launch of twelve space missions, setting a new record for the Indian space agency. This was reported by the national publication The Times of India.
"The said missions will include India's first manned spaceflight, Gaganyaan, which will take three astronauts to an altitude of 400 kilometers above the Earth's surface," ISRO chief Sridhara Panicker Somnath announced during a press briefing.
The three crew members of India's first national spacecraft, the Gaganyaan, are expected to spend three days in space before splashing down in the Indian Ocean.
The head of ISRO also emphasized that the number of launches this year may even exceed plans. This will depend on ISRO's ability to manufacture equipment and conduct testing, he said.
These ambitious plans by ISRO highlight India's growing role in the global space program and take the country to the next level in the space race.
