On December 7, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Energy of Iran, Abbas Aliabadi, and the Chairman of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Farzin, who were visiting Turkmenistan.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the guests noted that Iran places great importance on cooperation with Turkmenistan, which confidently continues along the path of progress and transformation. They conveyed warm greetings from President Masoud Pezeshkian to the head of state and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, along with best wishes for the prosperity of the Turkmen people.
Thanking them for their kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his best wishes to the leader of the friendly country and expressed confidence that the current visit of the Iranian delegation would contribute to further developing mutually beneficial cooperation and enriching it with new content.
As noted, the fraternal and neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran have deep historical roots and are traditionally developing today on the principles of mutual respect and understanding, both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations.
A multifaceted and productive partnership has been established between the two countries in political and diplomatic, financial and economic, energy, agricultural, transport, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Trade and economic cooperation is one of the priority areas of bilateral relations, with Iran occupying a significant place in Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover.
Emphasizing that there are ample opportunities for further expanding dialogue in the oil and gas sector, the head of state expressed confidence that regular exchanges of views on identifying new forms and methods of collaboration in this area and implementing them in practice would be beneficial.
As is well known, Turkmenistan advocates for the diversification of energy resource supplies to global markets. Currently, the country is working with its partners on implementing several significant energy projects.
Stressing that these initiatives are carried out with consideration for environmental safety, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to support initiatives and proposals aimed at expanding and strengthening bilateral relations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the members of the delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence in the further successful development of interstate cooperation based on the principles of friendship and mutual benefit for the good of the peoples of both countries.
