Today, a ceremonial meeting titled “A New Chapter in the Advancement of Turkmen-Japanese Cooperation in the Field of Education” was held at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. In the speeches delivered at the event, speakers expressed pride in the great achievements and clear goals being realized under the wise leadership of the Honorable President, Hero of Turkmenistan, and based on the valuable teachings of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero Arkadag, in the International Year of Peace and Trust — a year marked by significant events.
Special emphasis was placed on the steadily growing friendly relations between the Land of the Rising Sun — Japan — and our radiant Homeland in the context of the “International Year of Peace and Trust.” Speakers highlighted the significance of the Honorable President’s visit to Japan and the historic events that opened a new chapter in educational cooperation, as well as the great prospects for future collaboration in this area.
With pride, the participants noted the joyful news that the University of Tsukuba awarded the academic title of Honorary Doctor to the Hero Arkadag Serdar, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in recognition of his outstanding efforts to strengthen and develop bilateral relations with Japan, especially in the field of education, science, and technology. This is a clear indication of the further strengthening of ties in the fields of education and science between Turkmenistan and Japan, as well as the special importance both sides place on the development of human capital and future opportunities in this sphere.
As part of the rich program of the Honorable President’s visit to Japan, the Hero Arkadag Serdar - Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in the opening ceremony of Turkmenistan’s National Day at the “EXPO 2025” World Exhibition in Osaka, where he delivered a historic speech — a vivid demonstration of the strengthening Turkmen-Japanese partnership. The President’s meetings with the Emperor of Japan, the Prime Minister, the head of the Japan-Turkmen parliamentary friendship group, representatives of Japan’s business, academic, and scientific communities, as well as the signing of dozens of agreements following those negotiations, will undoubtedly open up broader opportunities for our youth — the future of our nations — in the fields of education and science.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of Hero Arkadag, today’s consistently developing and expanding mutually beneficial Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, built on friendship, equality, and long-term strategy, continues successfully under the great initiatives of the Honorable President. Speakers noted with particular pride that, as a result of the Turkmen-Japanese negotiations, five of the signed agreements were directly aimed at advancing cooperation in the field of education.
As is well known, education and science are key pillars of the actively developing Turkmen-Japanese relations. At present, the scope of cooperation is expanding based on agreements and established partnerships between scientific research institutions and higher education institutions of both countries. International exhibitions, scientific conferences, and festivals involving academic representatives of Turkmenistan and Japan are being regularly organized.
The multivolume scientific-encyclopedic work “Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan” by Hero Arkadag — an academician of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, and Honorary Doctor of the Universities of Tsukuba and Hirosaki — as well as his books “The Principles of Turkmen Statehood” and “The Continuation of the Meaning of My Life,” along with the book “Youth — The Pillar of the Nation” by the Honorable President, have become treasured gifts gracing the bookshelves of millions of Japanese-speaking readers. These literary works have a positive influence on further strengthening relations between the diplomatic and intellectual circles of both nations, and contribute to the closer bonding of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Japan.
The speakers expressed that these historic events — which marked the beginning of a new chapter in Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in education — inspire teachers to achieve new heights in nurturing generations loyal to the Motherland, the people, and the Honorable President, who will contribute to the flourishing future of the country.
The participants of the ceremonial meeting wished the Honorable President robust health, a long life, and continued success in his nationally and globally significant efforts, especially in initiatives aimed at the advancement of the education system. Furthermore, a special exhibition dedicated to Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in education was organized in the foyer of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan in honor of the meeting, and musical performances by students of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva added a festive spirit to this gratitude meeting, expressing the joy and appreciation of the education community.
