Arkadag to host the first Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development of the ECO

During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, held by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on April 18, Cabinet Deputy Chairman H. Geldimyradov reported on the preparations for the first Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Development of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which is scheduled to be held in April this year in Arkadag city.

As reported, the upcoming event is expected to be attended by heads and representatives of government agencies of the ECO member states, international structures, diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as ministries and industry departments of our country.

The main goal of the forum is to promote partnership in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the ECO region. The event will consider ways to address the SDGs. It is also planned to discuss a comprehensive and sustainable strategy for identifying priority areas of interaction. Based on the results of the meeting, it is planned to adopt the Final Document.

In this regard, a corresponding proposal was submitted to the head of state for consideration.

Having heard the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to the development of relations with the Economic Cooperation Organization. The head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to properly prepare for the first ministerial forum on sustainable development of the ECO, to be hosted by Arkadag city, and to ensure a high level of its organization.
