Marking the beginning of the 35th anniversary of state independence, the Resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan approving the motto for 2026, «Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses» opens a new page in the country's history, consolidating respect for national values and strategic directions for the further development of the Fatherland.
The symbolism of the current motto stems not only from the people's historical commitment to their roots, but also from the objective realities of today. The year's name directly reflects the high pace set in 2025 for the implementation of state programs.
In the Epoch of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state, Turkmenistan pays special attention to the development of horse breeding and equestrian sports in the country, the training of experienced horse breeders, horse trainers , riders and other specialized specialists, and the creation of the necessary conditions for raising their social and living standards.
The inclusion of the "Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding Art and Horse Decoration Traditions" category on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity represents a significant achievement of state cultural policy. This decision, unanimously adopted at the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee in December 2023, cemented the status of these "heavenly" horses as a global heritage.
The city of Arkadag , built on the "smart city" concept, has become Turkmenistan's intellectual platform. A key element of its scientific and educational cluster is the Scientific and Production Center for Horse Breeding, whose comprehensive activities are aimed at preserving the gene pool, studying, and enhancing the worldwide fame of Akhal-Teke horses, combining centuries-old experience of traditional breeding with the latest advances in modern science.
