In his interview with the television channel Al Arabiya, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, elaborated on the reforms in the field of education and the special role of the English language in the lives of modern Turkmen youth.
Hero-Arkadag noted that studying English has today become a mandatory element of the national education system. In particular, the language has been introduced in all general education schools of the country, and in four leading universities of Turkmenistan the educational process has been fully transitioned to English.
Special attention during the interview was given to the new “smart” city of Arkadag, which is becoming an innovative educational center.
“In the city of Arkadag, it is planned to open a specialized English-language school where teaching will be organized in accordance with modern educational methodologies and standards. It is also important to note that the educational process will be oriented toward providing students with the opportunity to continue their studies at prestigious universities in the United States, such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Columbia University. It is precisely here that truly broad horizons are opening for the ongoing activities of the educational and scientific communities of Turkmenistan and the United States,” the National Leader of the Turkmen people stated.
