A NEW TEXTBOOK FOR GENERAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS HAS BEEN PUBLISHED

In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of a powerful state, the education system holds a special place among the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country. This is due to the priority given to providing modern education and upbringing to the younger generation, ensuring their comprehensive development, and expanding efforts within the framework of national pedagogy under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and the esteemed President, Arkadagly Hero Serdar.

Recently, a textbook titled “Social Studies” for the 12th grade of general education schools was published (authors: O. Muhammetberdiyev, N. Suwhanow, S. Süleýmanow, A. Nobatowa. — Ashgabat: State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan, 2026). The textbook consists of an introduction, four chapters, and 32 paragraphs, presenting essential information in accordance with the curriculum.

The first chapter, “Society and Economy,” covers the role of the economy in society, production relations, entrepreneurship and its importance for development, economic systems, the model of Turkmenistan’s economic development, the market and its infrastructure, economic competition, the relationship between the economy and the state, and the state budget.The second chapter, “Social Structure of Society,” addresses the structure of society, features of social life in Turkmenistan, family, social protection of the population, demography and demographic policy, nations and interethnic relations, and the role of youth in modern society.The third chapter, “Political Life of Society,” discusses politics, political power, the state and its forms, the structure of the political system, the electoral system, the political system of Turkmenistan, law and legal relations, the legal system, human rights, the rule of law, civil society, foreign policy, and Turkmenistan’s international activities.The fourth chapter, “Society and Nature,” is devoted to the relationship between society and nature, as well as contemporary environmental issues.

At the end of the textbook, a glossary is provided to help better understand key terms.
