Turkmenistan - Federal Republic of Somalia: education system has been identified as an important area of cooperation

The meeting between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiyev and the delegation headed by the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Turkmenistan Fathudin Ali Mohamed was held on August 28.

The Minister of Education warmly congratulated the guest of honour on the appointment of the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Turkmenistan and wished him success in his endeavors to develop relations between the two countries. 

A number of proposals, based on the goal of establishing bilateral cooperation in the field of education between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

 It was emphasized that special attention within the framework of the foreign policy strategy of the President of Turkmenistan Esteemed Serdar Berdimuhamedov is paid to the development of the education system in our country, which contributes to the strengthening of relations with the world countries, prestigious international organizations in politics, economy, culture and humanitarian relations, in particular.

The minister, in his turn, spoke about the structure of the education system of Turkmenistan, the concepts adopted for the development of its legal base in accordance with world standards, the large-scale work carried out to improve the quality of education in the country, the achievements in international cooperation, the specialties taught in higher educational institutions.

He suggested to encourage the young people of the Federal Republic of Somalia to participate in the international competitions and Olympiads held among schoolchildren and students in Turkmenistan as well.

The Ambassador familiarized with Turkmenistan's international cooperation in the field of education based on humanitarian principles.

The honoured guest continued his speech and expressed wish to establish a contractual and legal framework for future cooperation between the educational institutions of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Turkmenistan, especially the opportunity for the youth of this country to study in the higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan on the basis of several specialties, in the fields of oil and gas, medicine, marine transport, in particular. 

The parties wished each other success and good luck in the implementation of work for the development of bilateral cooperation at the end of the meeting.
