The opening ceremony of the 3rd International Mathematics Olympiad for Schoolchildren was held at Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly on April 9, according to the university's website.
The intellectual competition, organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, brought together young mathematicians and their teachers from Turkmenistan and abroad.
Approximately 200 talented schoolchildren from Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, and Turkmenistan are participating in the International Mathematics Olympiad.
International guests participating in the Olympiad viewed an exhibition organized at the university, as well as exhibits from museums dedicated to the history of the university and the life and work of the great Eastern thinker and poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
The Olympiad is held individually in two levels: A and B. Level A competitions are open to schoolchildren under 20 years of age, as well as high school graduates who are not currently enrolled in higher education institutions and who have completed school within one year of their graduation at the time of the Olympiad. Level B competitions are open to schoolchildren who are under 16 years of age at the time of the Olympiad. Competitions in both levels will be held at Ashgabat Specialized Secondary School No. 135, which offers in-depth English language instruction.
A cultural program has been prepared for participants of the International Olympiad, including excursions to Ashgabat landmarks, including the Museum of Neutrality and the Cultural and Park Complex "Magtymguly Pyragy".
