On April 24, the III International Scientific-Practical Conference titled «Modern Trends in the Development of Financial Markets» was held at the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management. This was reported by the newspaper «Türkmenistan».
As noted, the agenda of the forum, organized by the higher education institution, included issues related to current trends in the global economy, sustainable development, and modern financial market developments.
The conference, held in a hybrid format, was attended by representatives of higher education institutions of the country, as well as scientific and educational centers from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as international financial organizations and major funds.
During the plenary session, Holger Floerkemeier, Director of the IMF Regional Capacity Development Center for the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia, delivered a video address. He noted that financial markets play an important role in economic development, efficient allocation of investments, and ensuring sustainable economic growth. The guest emphasized that economically sustainable development of each country is an important condition for strengthening peace, security, and harmonious development.
Eric Livny, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Office in Turkmenistan, highlighted in his speech the important role of financial development in middle-income countries.
During the forum, Turkmen representatives emphasized the need for continuous study of advanced global scientific achievements used in applying evidence-based approaches, introducing innovative technologies, and implementing effective economic solutions.
After the plenary session, the conference continued in sections: «Financial Markets and Sustainable Economic Development», «The Role of Banks in the Development of Financial Markets», and «Financial Markets and Investment Activity».
Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition was also organized in the foyer of the institution, showcasing the achievements and progress of the country’s education system, in particular the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management.
