The President of Turkmenistan received the head of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

On November 27, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Ms. Pia Kauma, who arrived in our country to participate in the second Ashgabat conference "Parliamentary Diplomacy in the OSCE Space: Dialogue is a tool for establishing cooperation for a prosperous and peaceful future."

Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the time devoted to the meeting, the guest noted that the OSCE attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with neutral Turkmenistan, which stands for the consolidation of peace and prosperity in the region and on the planet.

Warmly welcoming Ms. Pia Kauma, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that participation in the forum dedicated to the role of dialogue in ensuring peace would allow discussing important issues of bilateral cooperation. Taking the opportunity, the Head of state wished the conference a success and expressed confidence that the current visit of the guest would give a new impetus to further strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

As noted, independent Turkmenistan, consistently committed to the legal status of permanent neutrality, twice recognized by the relevant Resolutions of the UN General Assembly, consistently implements a positive foreign policy. At the same time, it was stated that our country, within the framework of multilateral cooperation, attaches great importance to the development of effective interaction with reputable international organizations, including the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

During the meeting, it was stressed that inter-parliamentary relations currently act as one of the important mechanisms in strengthening mutual understanding and trust between countries and peoples. In this context, it was stated that traditionally fruitful bilateral dialogue has a dynamic character. An example of this is the active participation of the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in the sessions of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as well as in various seminars held under its patronage.

During the exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation, the importance of coordinating joint efforts on issues such as economic development, ensuring reliable transit of energy resources in various directions, environmental well-being and environmental protection, and rational use of water resources was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, confirming our country's readiness to assist in building up effective cooperation within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to solve urgent problems of our time, wished Ms. Pia Kauma good health, well-being, and success in responsible work.
