Lecturer of Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University to Pursue Professional Development at the University of Tsukuba in Japan
In the era of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State, under the leadership of Hero-Arkadag and the esteemed President, a policy of universal peace is being broadly promoted in our beloved country. Particular attention is being paid to attracting and introducing advanced technologies for the efficient use of green energy sources. In the context of the present day, hydrogen is one of these sources and is considered a fuel of the future. In view of global challenges related to the environment and climate change, the production of hydrogen and the study of its potential applications are of particular importance.
In accordance with the Action Plan of the “Roadmap for the Development of International Cooperation of Turkmenistan in the Field of Hydrogen Energy for 2022–2023”, approved by a Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, the Hydrogen Energy Center was established at Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, and its Work Plan, agreed upon and approved by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, was successfully implemented.
As a result of research conducted at the University’s Hydrogen Energy Center on producing hydrogen fuel from water through electrolysis, green hydrogen fuel was successfully obtained. For the first time, specialists of the Center developed a laboratory unit for producing hydrogen fuel from natural gas using an innovative plasma-chemical method. The hydrogen fuel obtained through this method was analyzed using an “Agilent Technologies 6890” gas chromatograph. The analysis fully demonstrated that pure hydrogen fuel and technical carbon had been obtained from natural gas and confirmed that this method can be classified as an innovative zero-emission technology.
With the aim of conducting joint research in the promising and globally significant field of hydrogen energy and developing environmentally friendly and sustainable energy technologies, on April 7 of this year the University was assigned to implement the tasks arising from the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in joint research in the field of hydrogen energy between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and one of Japan’s leading higher education institutions, the University of Tsukuba. These activities are being successfully carried out by the University’s professors and lecturers.
Currently, Bayram Velhanov, a lecturer at the Department of Industrial Ecology of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Ecology of Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, is pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Tsukuba in Japan and is conducting relevant research activities in the field of hydrogen energy.
The lecturer’s study trip abroad is being carried out within the framework of the “SDGs Global Leader” program implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The master’s degree program will run from September 12, 2026, to March 31, 2029.
The University lecturer will conduct research jointly with scientists and specialists of the University of Tsukuba on producing hydrogen energy from natural gas and sustainable development systems. He will also study Japan’s extensive experience in environmental protection, sustainable energy and clean technologies, and participate in theoretical and practical classes in relevant fields.
The knowledge that the representative of Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University will acquire at one of the world’s renowned scientific and educational centers, together with the research he will conduct, will make a significant contribution to introducing innovative technologies into our country’s oil and gas sector and advancing the sustainable energy strategy.
We express our sincere gratitude to Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero President for the great opportunities being created for the exchange of experience in science and education at leading higher education institutions abroad. May they enjoy good health and long lives, and may their activities carried out for the benefit of the people and the country and of significance to all humanity always be successful and prosperous.
