Education Representatives Hold Several Meetings with Foreign Partners on the Sidelines of the International Exhibition
On 10 October, Azat Atayev, Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, held five meetings with partners from Georgia and the United Kingdom on the sidelines of the international exhibition and scientific conference entitled “Healthcare, Education and Sport in the Era of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State”, taking place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. All the meetings continued previously reached agreements and focused on translating them into practical action.
During a meeting with Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, and Konstantine Sabiashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Turkmenistan, the participants discussed the outcomes of the President of Turkmenistan’s state visit to Georgia and the first meeting of the joint working group on cooperation in education. The parties agreed to approve a roadmap for cooperation in November, organise a webinar for Turkmen scientists with the participation of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and the Horizon Europe office, and identify pairs of higher education institutions for cooperation. The Georgian side invited the participants to hold the next meeting of the working group in Tbilisi.
The meeting with the British Council delegation was attended by Stephen Conlon, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Turkmenistan. The parties highlighted the outcomes achieved following the World Education Forum in London and discussed the third phase of the AELLCA programme, professional development for English language teachers, opportunities to hold IELTS examinations in Ashgabat, quality assurance in higher education, and the idea of establishing a unified platform for educational cooperation with the United Kingdom.
At the meeting with representatives of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, the participants discussed cooperation in enabling Turkmen teachers to obtain Cambridge qualifications and in assessing English language proficiency.
During the meeting with Professor Andrew Linn, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Westminster, the first anniversary of the signing of the memorandum with the International University for the Humanities and Development was marked. The parties also discussed its implementation plan, joint doctoral programmes and scientific research.
Discussions with representatives of Hamilton House Publishers focused on providing language centres with interactive educational resources for teaching English to children and implementing a pilot project.
The meetings confirmed the parties’ mutual interest in expanding international cooperation in Turkmenistan’s education sector and ensuring that it delivers concrete, practical results.
