Belarus has revised the procedure for issuing study visas for citizens of Turkmenistan

On January 1, 2024, a new procedure for issuing study visas for citizens of Turkmenistan going to study in Belarus came into force, according to the website of the Belarusian Embassy in Turkmenistan.

Now citizens of Turkmenistan entering Belarusian universities (applicants) must pay a consular fee for a visa in accordance with the Tax Code of the Republic.

At the same time, students from Turkmenistan already studying in Belarus and citizens admitted to Belarusian universities will continue to be issued free study visas upon presentation of a certificate from the university confirming their status.

“Free study visas are issued upon presentation of an original/copy of a certificate from an educational institution confirming that a foreign citizen is a student, or an official letter from an educational institution addressed to a foreign institution (not older than three months at the time of contacting the Embassy),” the diplomatic mission said in a statement. Previously, all citizens of Turkmenistan entering Belarus for the purpose of enrolling in a university or already studying were exempt from paying consular fees for a visa in the “study” category.
